Welcome to my website! Thank you for taking the time to learn more about me and my passion for photography.

I grew up in Ontario, New York, where I still live today. Home is my grandparent’s farmhouse, shared with my best friend—my wife, Ginger.

My first camera was a Christmas gift somewhere in my teens. After working on the yearbook as a photographer and the photo editor, I was hooked and started photographing weddings while still in high school. In 1990 I graduated from the Rochester Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Photographic Illustration. I started my photographic career working as a freelance assistant with several commercial photographers. After five years of real-life experience, I opened my own studio.

TJT Photography is an expansive, loft-like space in the Anderson Alley Arts Building in Rochester’s eclectic Neighborhood of the Arts. This spacious city studio is comfortable and friendly enough for anything from intimate portraits to commercial and fashion sets. There is also a seasonal open-air and barn studio, ideal for senior portraits, at the farmhouse in Ontario.

My work has been published locally and nationally. Among our corporate clients are the Ad Council of Rochester, Bausch&Lomb, CURE, Eastman Kodak, Garlock Sealing Technologies, M&T Bank, Monro Muffler Brake, Roberts Communications, Rochester Museum & Science Center, and Reliant Community Federal Credit Union, as well as several local and national advertising and design agencies.

I pride myself on being up-to-date with the photographic industry and maintain active membership in the American Society of Media Photographers—Western New York Chapter, Professional Photographers of America, Professional Photographers’ Society of New York State—Greater Rochester Professional Photographers Section, and Senior Photographers International.

Photography as an art necessitates passion. I care passionately about all of the images I create, especially those captured in the great outdoors. My love affair with nature began as a Boy Scout with achieving the honor rank of Eagle. In 1992 I took a six-month sabbatical and successfully hiked the Appalachian Trail from Springer Mountain in Georgia to Maine’s Mount Katahdin. That memorable experience sparked the names for two kittens that came as a bonus with a brick of film—Springer and Katie.

Details matter! Every image is important. My style is meticulous, and I welcome any photographic challenge.
